Do you think there is something you can specifically do in the next week that will make your personal life, your family life and your business life all worse?
Do you think there is something you can specifically do in the next week that will make your personal life, your family life and your business life all better?
Do you believe that the choice is yours?
Do you believe that every choice has an end result?
Do you believe making the right choice is your responsibility?
If you answered these questions honestly you likely answered them affirmatively. Using that as my assumption, here is what you just said,
Regardless of how good or bad my past has been, regardless of how good or bad my present situation is, there is something I can specifically do NOW that will make my future either better or worse and the choice is mine.
Read that out loud and let it sink in.
That is a paraphrase from the opening of one of the many Zig Ziglar presentations I have listened to over the years and it does make a point I hope and also serve as a reminder for you as it does me.
Qualities of Success
The first Zig Ziglar seminar I was able to attend was his Qualities of Success seminar in November 1991 in Little Rock, Arkansas in the Excelsior Hotel. It is hard to believe that was 25 years ago now. This was still when he was doing the 3 hour seminars. To say that seminar and the others I have been fortunate to attend along with the many books and recordings I have read and listened to since have made a positive impact on my life would be an understatement. If I had actually put into practice all I have learned I would be much better off myself today. Knowing what to do and doing it are two different things as I discussed in Doing Wrong Anyway a couple of years ago.
I do still have the ticket stub from that event.
And on the back I have an affirmation list created during the seminar.
I created this list on a mainframe computer (PC’s were just in their infancy then). The definition of success as defined by Zig is included there too and says,
Success means to be happy, healthy, reasonably prosperous and secure and to have friends, peace of mind and good family relationships.
He did modify that definition later on and added to have hope the future will be better than today. That is a pretty good definition I believe that works for me.
If you are like me you are doing better in some of those areas than others and there is always room for improvement. If you are also like me it is hard to measure how well you are doing unless there is some way to keep score.
What is your LifeScore?
Michael Hyatt has a solution to that measurement problem. He has created a LifeScore Assessment tool you can access online and complete in 10-15 minutes to help you gauge how you are doing. And did I mention this assessment is FREE? His categories or domains as he calls them don’t match up identically to Zig’s but the goal of both is the same, to help you see where you are now, what areas you need to improve and then the “how-to” on how to begin making those improvements to achieve success for you.
Like many assessments, this one is self-administered.
It provides you with the opportunity to rate yourself in each of life’s major domains.
You read a series of statements that describe specific situations and pick the one that most closely aligns with where you perceive yourself to be. Then you refine a bit based on your unique situation.
The tool then calculates your score in each domain, adds them together, and gives you an overall LifeScore.™
The whole process takes less than ten minutes. It will give you the clarity you need to create the life you want.
Once you discover your LifeScore,™ you can quickly see opportunities for growth and what is working well.
If you take it quarterly, you have a built-in way to measure your growth over time and stay motivated toward what matters most to you!
Best of all, the LifeScore™ Assessment is FREE–but only for a limited time.
I just took it myself last night and my score is 72. If that were a golf score I would be pretty pleased with it but it isn’t. It is a life score so there is definite room for improvement for me.
Your LifeScore Assessment
Go take the assessment today and find out your score. It might just give you the information and focus you need to make that change I mentioned earlier that can make your life better. If you do you could make 2017, not the worst year ever as the title of this post says but your Best Year Ever! What do you have to lose, a few minutes? You spend (or waste depending on your perspective and experience) more time than that on Facebook probably multiple times a week.
Invest 15 minutes in yourself and take your FREE assessment NOW!
Regardless of how good or bad your past has been, regardless of how good or bad your present situation is, there IS something you can specifically do NOW that will make your future either better or worse and the choice is yours!
Until next time…
P.S Michael has also made available a free PDF download where more than 30 thought leaders, influencers, and high achievers all share their top strategies for
starting the year off with a bang. You can still get that here at the link below for a limited time too.
This will only be available for a limited time and that time ends at midnight PST on 12/15/16.
P.P.S If you are tired of setting the same goals every year and never reaching them, make 2017 the year you finally cross “the big one” off the list. Michael Hyatt is going to show you exactly how in his goal-setting course, 5 Days to Your Best Year Ever.
Registration is only open for a limited time and that time ends at midnight PST on 12/15/16.
